Getting to know our newest colleague! 5 minutes with Finch Hare, Partnership Manager

June 2, 2021 | Categorised in:

2021 has been an exciting year so far for us at Ampla, and not least because our expert team is growing! We sat down with our newest colleague, Partnership Manager Finch Hare, to hear his thoughts on why he joined Ampla, his perspective on the legal finance market and his aims for the year ahead.

Q: What attracted you to join Ampla Finance? Was there something in particular that interested you about the business?

Finch: I previously worked in recruitment and really enjoyed working with the legal sector, so when I started thinking about a change I knew I wanted to stay in this industry. Developing business has always been a focus of mine, and something I really enjoy, so when I saw what Ampla Finance was doing in the growing litigation finance sector I was sold! It’s a great opportunity to take what drove my success in my earlier career and apply it to an exciting business doing good things.

Q: What are your plans and goals for Ampla over the next year?

Finch: I’m lucky to be joining at a great time as the world unlocks somewhat. Family law in particular is a sector that I haven’t focused on much previously, so my plan is to immerse myself in the market and learn as much as I can by speaking with our Partner Firms and lawyers across the space.

As a growing brand with exciting ideas, my plan is to fly the flag for Ampla and nurture our existing partnerships and relationships, while also cultivating new expert entrants into the Ampla Finance family. We’re continually developing new offerings, changes and improvements to our products and internal practices, and I’m keen to get involved to help our clients, and their clients in turn.

Q: What are your thoughts on the legal finance marketplace, and Ampla’s place within it?

Finch: I’m still getting the lay of the land but it’s easy to see that legal finance is an essential part of the legal landscape, not least from an access to justice point of view.

Having spoken to our clients and gotten to know how thankful they are that our facility existed and suited them when they needed it, it’s fantastic to be enabling our borrowers to afford the best legal representation – it’s our motto: Fair finance when you need it the most.

Ampla’s place within the market is becoming clearer by the day – we’re evolving, nimble and have the chance to react quickly and responsively to client demands when we need to. As the pace of change continues to increase in coming months and years, this flexibility will be essential, backed up by our fair, trusted and expert back-office team.

Q: What has been your best moment in the job so far?

Finch: There have been several moments I’ve really enjoyed so far, particularly from a point of view of developing my own skills and experience in the sector. A real highlight was taking my first client meeting, where I could take advantage of my experience from recruitment, but I did find it really interesting how the tone and pace can be very different to what I’ve known before. Like all challenges, it was great fun, and brilliant to be able to present our innovative offering to the family law professionals who can use it to help their clients.

Day-to-day, as I learn more about the business and our clients, I’m really enjoying how my knowledge of the technical side of the business is growing, with things clicking between the back-office processes and how that enables us to be the best lender we can for clients.

Q: What do you do to relax?

Finch: I love to play darts (though some would say badly!) and explore where I live with my two dogs – Juan and Paco. I also collect obscure 90’s dance records which are perfect for playing when I’m working from home.

I’m not an avid football fan by any stretch of the imagination but, as dreadful as they are, I’m a Southend United fan, as they’re my local team.
